Update: Kate Thornton and Family Move into New Home

Kate Thornton and her family were surprised with a new house this weekend.

On Friday, September 3, the Kisses4Kate organization was able to make a down payment on a home for the Thorntons.  The house was rapidly swarmed by volunteers who pitched in to prepare the place for the Thorton’s arrival.

According to a press release from the Kisses4Kate organization, the homecoming was bittersweet.

A sad report informed that Kate’s condition is rapidly weakening, and she is expected to live for only a number of days more.

According to the release, Susan, Kate’s mother, carried Kate across the house and laid her into a new princess bed.

Two of the walls in her bedroom are covered in hand-painted murals, one a beach scene, and the other a castle.  Flowers are painted surrounding her bedroom door.

The project has been accomplished to this point through the support the Thornton’s received through the local community and everyone who came forward to offer a helping hand.  The Thortons are very grateful.

Kate is a five-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia two years ago in August of 2008.

Kisses4Kate is still working to raise the remaining funds necessary to pay off the rest of the loan on the home.
